From Youth Leader to Lawmaker: APC Youth Network West Africa Hails Dr. Seriki’s Primary Victory in Kosofe II
The APC Youth Network West Africa has congratulated Dr. Muritala Ishola Seriki on his victory in the All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Assembly primary election for Kosofe Constituency II, describing the outcome as a landmark moment for youth participation in governance and democratic leadership.
In a congratulatory statement issued by the regional youth organization, the group said Dr. Seriki’s emergence as the APC candidate represents more than a personal achievement, noting that it demonstrates the rewards of consistent grassroots engagement, political loyalty, and purposeful youth involvement within the party structure.
According to the group, Dr. Seriki’s political journey reflects years of dedicated service, particularly during his tenure as APC Youth Leader in Lagos State, where he played a prominent role in youth mobilization and political participation across the state.
The organization stated that his victory sends a strong message that young people who remain committed to party ideals and community development can successfully rise through the ranks of leadership.
The APC Youth Network West Africa recalled Dr. Seriki’s participation at its high-level Youth Town Meeting held in Accra, Ghana, in February 2026 under the theme, “Back Home, Still Involved,” where he encouraged Nigerian youths in the diaspora to move beyond political awareness and actively participate in governance and nation-building.
The group noted that his victory now serves as practical evidence of the principles he advocated during the engagement.
Describing the outcome as a triumph of grassroots politics, the network said Dr. Seriki’s victory over a sitting lawmaker reflects the confidence reposed in him by party members and stakeholders within Kosofe Constituency II.
The organization expressed confidence that he would bring the same energy, discipline, and commitment that characterized his service as Youth Leader into legislative representation if elected in the 2027 general elections.
According to the statement, residents of Ketu, Alapere, Agboyi, Isheri, Magodo, Ikosi, Mile 12, and other communities within the constituency stand to benefit from a representative who understands the needs and aspirations of the people.
Speaking on behalf of the organization, the Director-General of APC Youth Network West Africa, Hon. Gideon Olatunde Igbasan, described Dr. Seriki’s emergence as a source of pride for young Nigerians across the country and in the diaspora.
He noted that having worked alongside Dr. Seriki and witnessed his passion for youth empowerment and political participation firsthand, the victory reinforces the belief that young people can successfully occupy positions of influence when given the opportunity.
The organization also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what it described as his longstanding commitment to youth inclusion in governance.
According to the group, the emergence of younger political leaders across Lagos and Nigeria reflects a political environment that encourages youth participation and leadership development.
The APC Youth Network West Africa pledged its continued support for the Renewed Hope Agenda and expressed optimism that Dr. Seriki’s victory would inspire more young Nigerians to become actively involved in politics and public service.
While celebrating the primary election success, the group reminded the APC candidate that the responsibility of representation begins after victory, urging him to remain focused on service, accountability, and the expectations of the people of Kosofe Constituency II.
“Congratulations to Dr. Muritala Ishola Seriki on this historic achievement. The primary election may be over, but the real work of service and representation lies ahead,” the statement concluded.
