Eedris Abdulkareem’s Social Media Accounts Taken Down Days After “Open Letter to Donald Trump” Release
The social media accounts, Facebook and Instagram, of popular Nigerian musician and activist Eedris Abdulkareem have been suspended by the management of Meta.
It was gathered that his accounts were flagged and taken down less than a week after the music star released a new single titled “Open Letter to Donald Trump.”
In the song, Abdulkareem addresses the President of the United States, Donald Trump, appealing for intervention in resolving Nigeria’s worsening security crisis.
Released under his label, Lakreem Entertainment, on TikTok on 29 November 2025, the song is described as both a message to the US President and a sharp critique of Nigeria’s political elite.
Abdulkareem accused Nigerian leaders of enriching themselves while citizens suffer amid growing insecurity, kidnappings and terrorism.
The musician, who sang “dem dey fear Donald Trump,” positioned the song as an attempt to draw global attention to Nigeria’s deepening crises.
This is not the first time the outspoken rapper has used his music to criticise authorities. In April 2025, he released “Tell Your Papa,” calling out Seyi Tinubu and urging him to relay Nigerians’ hardships to his father, President Bola Tinubu. The National Broadcasting Commission later banned the song for allegedly violating the Broadcasting Code.
In 2004, then-President Olusegun Obasanjo banned Abdulkareem’s hit “Jaga Jaga,” though it later became an underground anthem.
