How Lagos Is Building Capacity of Engineers, HR Officers
The Lagos State Government has commenced a dual job specific training programme for engineers and human resource officers in the state civil service as part of efforts to build a skilled, adaptable and productive workforce.
The programme, organised by the Ministry of Establishments and Training, has more than 200 participants and is being held concurrently at the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The engineering training is themed “Effective Engineering Solutions for Public Sector Challenges,” while the human resource programme focuses on “Human Resource and Organisational Management.”
Declaring the programme open, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Establishments and Training, Dr Olubusola Abidakun, urged participants to actively engage in the sessions, acquire new knowledge and share their professional experiences.
Abidakun also encouraged the participants to enjoy the learning experience, noting that effective training should provide opportunities for professional development while allowing participants to refresh, connect and exchange ideas.
She commended the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for his commitment to continuous capacity development and efforts to strengthen a competent, efficient and future ready public service.
One of the resource persons, Engr Abiola Kosegbe, a former Permanent Secretary in the Lagos State Government, also commended the administration for prioritising human capital development.
Kosegbe addressed some of the challenges affecting effective engineering solutions in the public sector and proffered practical measures to tackle them.
The training is expected to enhance the professional capacity of participants and equip them with skills to respond more effectively to emerging challenges in the state’s public service.
