Osimhen Opens Season with Brace In Dramatic Galatasaray Draw

Victor Osimhen marked the start of the 2026/27 Turkish Super Lig season with a brace as Galatasaray were held to a dramatic 2-2 draw by newly promoted Çorum FK at RAMS Park on Friday night.

The Nigeria international proved decisive for the defending champions after a goalless first half. Osimhen broke the deadlock in the 53rd minute to give Galatasaray the lead.

Çorum FK hit back quickly, however, with Alexandros Kyziridis and Jesús Ramírez scoring to turn the game around and leave the hosts staring at an opening-day defeat.

Deep into stoppage time, Galatasaray won a corner. Gabriel Sara’s delivery found Osimhen in the penalty area, and the striker rose above the defence to power a header into the net, completing his brace and securing a point.

Osimhen scored 22 goals in 32 appearances last season with 15 of those goals coming in the Turkey Super Lig, while the remaining seven goals was scored in the Uefa Champions League.

The Nigeria striker bagged eight assists in all competitions last season.
