Babajide Optimistic Of Rejuvenated Falcons After WAFCON, World Cup Setback

Nigeria forward, Rinsola Babajide has expressed optimism that the team will bounce back after experiencing heartbreak as Nigeria missed out on a place at the FIFA Women’s World Cup, while remaining determined that the team will recover in true Naija fashion.
Reflecting on the team’s campaign at the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), Babajide said she was heartbroken to miss out on the World Cup while she unequivocally declared her loyalty to Nigeria.
“It really hurts to miss out on a World Cup spot but grateful for the opportunity to represent my country at yet another WAFCON, unfortunately it didn’t go the way we’d of liked it to have gone,” she said.
Despite the disappointment, Babajide insisted the setback would not define the Falcons but rather spur them to achieve greater things ahead.
“We might be down right now but we’ll definitely bounce back, the only way we know how to, the Naija way.”
Babajide appreciated the fans and enthusiasts for supporting the team as she reveals plans to reflect and refuel ahead of the new season
“Time to reset, reflect and work ahead towards the Olympic qualifiers. Thank you to everyone who supported us both in the stands and from home through it all. The journey has been real.”
