A group, Sam Momah Foundation, has bestowed a new Reading and Conference Centre to the University of Lagos College of Medicine.
The foundation named after a former Nigeria’s Minister of Science and Technology completed the handing over at a ceremony held in Lagos on Tuesday.
A trustee of the foundation, Amaka Haruna described the act as pleasing to the organization as promoting education in the country is one of the motives behind the establishment of the organization.
She noted the foundation as the brainchild of the former minister, who was an advocate of quality education in his lifetime.
Haruna said, “The main aim of the foundation is to promote reading among Nigerian youths. So, we thought it best to start in a field that requires much reading. The idea is to have a reading room in every federal university in Nigeria.”
Reacting, the provost of the institution’s College of Medicine, Prof Wale Oke, said, “The College of Medicine is immensely proud to be the beneficiary of Sam Momah family’s benevolence.
“We assure you that your investment in the future of medical education will yield invaluable returns in the form of groundbreaking discoveries and advancements in healthcare.”
