Imota joyously concluded its 37th Ayayo Day Anniversary on November 11, 2023, with a series of events that highlighted the community’s vibrancy and growth.
Hon. Wasiu Kunle Agoro, the Executive Chairman of Imota Local Council Development Area, expressed gratitude for the community’s prosperity and emphasized the crucial role of unity among indigenes, friends, and well-wishers.
Attributing Imota’s achievements to infrastructural developments, Hon. Agoro commended the visionary leadership of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for their contributions to the community’s rapid development. Oba Ajibade Mudashiru Bakare-Agoro, the Ranodu of Imota Ancient Kingdom, reflected on the community’s developmental journey, outlining its transformation from four major quarters to twenty-three additional quarters and settlements.
Notable projects such as Caleb University, Lagos State Asphalt Yard, and the largest rice mill in Black Africa were highlighted as key contributors to Imota’s progress. Oba Bakare-Agoro acknowledged the support of leaders like Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Babatunde Raji Fashola, Akinwunmi Ambode, and Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu.
Dr. Adekunle Awolaja, Chairman of Imota Day Celebration, shared details of the unique activities planned for the anniversary, blending tradition and modernity.
These included a Royal Parade and public service activities, all aimed at preserving the community’s rich heritage.
Dr. Awolaja expressed gratitude to government representatives, distinguished guests, and contributors for their unwavering support.
High Chief Adewunmi Ogunsanya, the Chairman of the Occasion, underscored the significance of the celebration, praising the founding members and past executives for laying a solid foundation for Imota’s socio-cultural development.
He highlighted the commitment to sustaining programs and activities for the community’s continued growth.
Chairman of the 2023 Ayayo Day, Dr. Shakiru Okedeyi, outlined the three-day celebration, featuring a Royal Parade, an annual lecture on youth empowerment and national development, and the grand finale with the launch of a 250 million Naira Education Endowment Fund.
The fund aims to establish an ICT Innovation Hub and provide scholarships for indigent students.
Community leaders called for continued support from residents, leaders, and stakeholders to ensure the success of these initiatives, showcasing Imota’s unwavering commitment to unity, development, and cultural preservation during the 37th Ayayo Day Anniversary.
