Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has reaffirmed the state’s readiness to host the 2026 Confederation of African Football (CAF) Awards, following an inspection visit by CAF officials to the proposed venue.

According to the governor, officials from the Lagos State Sports Commission welcomed the CAF delegation and conducted them around the venue as part of preparations for the prestigious continental football event.

“Officials from the Lagos State Sports Commission received the Confederation of African Football team in Lagos for their inspection visit ahead of the 2026 CAF Awards,” Sanwo-Olu said.

He noted that the inspection provided an opportunity for the state to receive valuable feedback from CAF officials, adding that preparations are being handled with meticulous attention to detail.

“We guided them through the venue and gathered their feedback. Hosting an event of this scale means every single detail counts and our team is working hard behind the scenes to make sure we get it right.”

Sanwo-Olu expressed confidence in Lagos capacity to deliver a world-class event, describing the city as fully prepared to welcome Africa’s football stars, officials and fans.

“Lagos is ready and we look forward to putting on a brilliant show for African football.”

The CAF Awards is one of African football’s flagship events, bringing together the continent’s top players, coaches, administrators and football stakeholders to celebrate outstanding achievements in the sport.
