Based on the current climate condition, the Nigerian Metrological Agency (NiMET), has predicted that there would be hotter weather in the country, as it warned the citizens to prepare for the climate change, giving them health tips on the proactive measures to stay healthy and prevent effects of the hotter weather.

In a memo signed by the Climate Change Unit of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), NiMET instructed the citizens on some exercises they could engage in to adapt to the predicted hotter days and warmer nights ahead.

While giving the health tips, the agency charged the citizens to drink more water to keep their bodies hydrated, advising them to avoid alcoholic and caffeinated drinks during the period.

It also implored them to eat a lot of fresh foods, fruits and vegetables which would supply water to their body system, warning them against much consumption of protein-rich foods due to their high chances of increasing metabolic heat.

Another protective measure recommended by the agency is for the citizens to stay indoors between 12noon and 3pm, and to always take cold baths before going to bed at night.
