Alimi Toheeb Omotayo has been named the best graduating student of the Faculty of Law at Lagos State University after completing his LL.B degree with First Class Honours and a cumulative grade point average of 4.73 out of 5.00.
The achievement, recorded for the 2024/2025 academic session, also saw him collect 10 prizes at the university’s recent convocation ceremonies. Omotayo publicly shared the milestone, noting that the result reflected years of consistent effort.
In addition to his academic distinction, he was selected as a 2025 Body of Senior Advocates of Nigeria (BOSAN) Scholar. The competitive national award, worth ₦1 million, recognises outstanding law students and is paid in two tranches—during the final year of university and while at the Nigerian Law School.
Throughout his studies, Omotayo completed more than four quality internships and held several leadership positions. These included serving as Legal Director and Attorney General of the LASU Students’ Union, President of the Nigerian Association of Muslim Law Students (NAMLAS) LASU chapter, and other roles in student representation and legal research bodies.
He expressed gratitude for the journey while his performance further strengthens LASU’s record of producing high-achieving law graduates who continue to distinguish themselves at the Nigerian Law School and beyond. Omotayo now turns his attention to the next phase of professional legal training.
