About the Role
Velox Payments provides international money transfer services, multi-currency wallets and cross-border payment solutions.
As the company grows its corporate business in Nigeria, the Business Development Officer will be responsible for identifying and converting businesses with recurring foreign-currency and international payment needs.
The role requires a strong understanding of Nigeria’s FX market and the ability to engage corporate decision-makers, including CFOs, treasurers, finance leads and procurement professionals.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Originating and closing FX business with corporates, SMEs, importers and treasury teams across Nigeria.
- Building and managing a pipeline of corporate clients with recurring FX and cross-border payment needs.
- Driving transaction volumes and growing the company’s FX business.
- Developing relationships with CFOs, treasurers, finance leads, procurement decision-makers and other key stakeholders.
- Identifying new business opportunities and converting prospects into active clients.
- Managing the entire sales process, from prospecting and relationship development to funded transactions and repeat business.
- Working closely with Treasury, Operations and Compliance teams to ensure effective pricing, settlement and execution of transactions.
- Maintaining strong relationships with existing clients and identifying opportunities to increase business volumes.
- Supporting the company’s growth by developing a strong corporate client book.
Requirements
Applicants should have:
- At least 3 years of experience in FX sales, corporate FX, treasury sales or cross-border payments.
- A proven track record of selling FX solutions to corporates and businesses in Nigeria.
- An existing network of corporate clients with active FX and/or cross-border payment requirements.
- Strong knowledge of the Nigerian FX market, including rates and major cross-border payment corridors.
- A strong understanding of the needs and decision-making processes of corporate finance and treasury teams.
- Strong commercial, negotiation, business development and relationship-management skills.
- The ability to independently build and grow a client portfolio from the ground up.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- A proactive, self-motivated and results-oriented approach.
