Popular women football development advocate and convener/coordinator of Soccer Queens Championship, Mr Moses Bako have praised the organizers of the 2nd edition of the Betsy Obaseki Women Football Tournament for setting a really high standard.
The highly respected women football enthusiast, also urged the NWFL, football stakeholders and football lovers to come together in eradicating drugs from been taken by players.
“I must confess to you that the standard is really high now, I was here for the previous edition and this year’s edition of the Betsy Obaseki Women Football Tournament is really fantastic and the standard is rich.
“The fact that, the NWFL premier league teams have also improved and there are alot of sponsors who have really bought into the idea of the tournament, that shows you that, the tournament is really a world class one.
“I will not want to mention a particular team that went to the age grade world cup and failed woefully, most of the players drafted into the team then unknowingly to the coaching crew were into drugs intake and it affected their performance which made them fail woefully. It wasn’t a good performance because they had no access to the drugs they take, so it affected their performance.
“So we clearly and totally condemn the use of drugs by players and I personally don’t like it, many women football advocates have met to talk about how to fight it.
“We love the theme of this year’s edition of Betsy Obaseki Women Football Tournament which says Say No To Drugs, drugs will do no good to the body because the after effects is worse and that’s why we all have to come together including the NWFL, football stakeholders and football lovers and say No To Drugs.”
