A Toyota Camry driver sustained injuries today after the vehicle collided with a trailer along the Lagos State University–Iba Road following an alleged brake failure.

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) reported that the incident occurred at about 7:45 a.m. near Pennafort Filling Station, inward First Gate. According to the agency, the Camry suffered brake failure before crashing into the trailer.

LASTMA described the crash as minor but confirmed that the driver of the Camry was the sole casualty. Officials of the traffic agency and personnel of the Nigeria Police Force were quickly deployed to the scene to manage the situation, assist the injured motorist and restore order.

The collision briefly disrupted traffic flow on the busy corridor, which links the university community with surrounding residential and commercial areas. Recovery and clearance operations were carried out promptly to minimise further inconvenience to other road users.

Brake failure remains a recurring factor in road crashes across Lagos, particularly on routes with heavy commercial and private vehicle traffic. Traffic managers have repeatedly urged motorists to ensure their vehicles are properly maintained and to exercise caution, especially during peak morning hours.

No further details on the condition of the injured driver were immediately available. LASTMA continues to monitor the corridor as normal traffic gradually resumes.
