The Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), Ago-Okota Division has pledged to intensify  support for the police next year praying that the calamity that befell the police in the year 2020 should not occur again.

The chairman, Hon. MusibauAlebiosu, said this during the last monthly meeting  to round off year 2020 while adjourning the meeting till Thursday, January 14, 2021.

He also informed that the committee would not hold its annual get-together party for security and economic reasons.

During the meeting, Alebiosu appreciated the contributions of the members towards ensuring that the committee delivered its duties this year by maintaining effective rapport between the police and the community.

Specifically, he thanked members for protecting police officers and their stations during the #EndSARS protest violence during which some police stations were burnt including the neighbouringIlasamaja Police Station while some officers were also killed across the state.

He promised that the committee would improve the relationship between the two parties and embark on developmental projects.

He also extended his appreciation to the members of the Oodua People’s Congress (OPC) for working hand-in-hand with the committee to repel the hoodlums who attempted to vandaliseOkota police station during the EndSARS protest.

Commending the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), SP LadiTarpaya, Alebiosu said she has been so fantastic in the discharge of her duty, describing her as a hardworking police officer whose passion for policing is inspiring.

“Regardless of the great level of relationship between the community and the police, as PCRC, we will do better next year to sustain it and even raise the bar. It has been so great working with the DPO. She’s doing fantastically well, she’s at work 24/7. There was a time I had to report her to the Area Commander when she was so sick in the office but, instead of going home to treat herself, she brought the doctor to the office to treat her. She’s untiring when it comes to working.

“We’ve enjoyed working with her. I urge the residents to give more support to the police, the community can’t do without the police, we experienced that in the aftermath of the protest. As PCRC, we will embark on some development projects next year and that includes transforming our PCRC hall to a storey-building among others.”
