Wafu-B U17 Cup: Flamingos Smash Niger With Heavy Defeat

Nigeria U17 women’s football national team kicked off their campaign at the Wafu-B U17 Women’s Cup with an exceptional 5-0 win against Niger at the Stade de Yamoussoukro on Wednesday.

Harmony Chidi, Awawu Bashiru, Ohunene Sunday, Mary Dunstan and Ayomide Rotimi were instrumental to the huge win for Nigeria.

Skipper, Harmony got the Flamingos to a flying start with a cool finish in the 16th minute.

Nigeria dominated proceedings and their possession counted in the 35th minute as Bashiru doubled the lead with an emphatic strike.

The Flamingos went into the break with a two goal lead while pegging their opponent to their own half for majority of the encounter.

Niger gave Nigeria a run for their money as they became competitive but Nigeria edged their West Africa counterpart with physicality later on in the game.

Sunday tripled the lead in the 83rd minute, a minute later, Dunstan scored the fourth goal for the Flamingos.

Rotimi rounded up the masterclass performance of Nigeria with an icing on the cake in the 90th minute.

The Flamingos next game is against Ghana on Saturday, September 19 at the Stade de Yamoussoukro.
