By Saheed Afolabi
The Director of Unification Ladies, Tobi Oyekan has expressed measured optimism as his team prepares to compete in what he describes as a tough group in the ongoing NWFL Championship.
In an exclusive interview with ECHONEWS, Oyekan acknowledged the competitive nature of the group but believes his side has a strong chance of progressing.
“Well, the group appears to be a tough one but nevertheless we share the optimism of having a good chance to scale through,” he said.
When assessing the squad’s readiness, the Director rated the team’s efficiency as “Decent,” citing the steady growth and integration of players from their development (feeder) teams with the elite squad.
“I will aggregate and peg their efficiency as ‘Decent’ considering the steady growth and hybridization of our development team (feeders) and Elite players.”
He said that the team fully understands the importance of the championship and remains sharply focused on the ultimate prize.
“We know what’s at stake as a fold; we will remain focused on the best prize the championship has to offer.”
Unification Ladies will be looking to leverage their blend of experienced elite players and promising talents from their feeder system as they battle for a strong showing and possible promotion in the 2026 NWFL Championship.
