UI Community Donates ₦6 Million to Oriire School Attack Survivors, Bereaved Families
The University of Ibadan (UI) community has donated ₦6 million to support survivors and bereaved families affected by the recent attacks on schools in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.
The donation, raised by serving and retired staff of the university, is intended to provide relief to rescued students, traumatized teachers, and families who lost loved ones during the coordinated attacks on three schools.
The funds were officially presented to the beneficiaries at the Office of the Inspector-General of Education, Ogbomoso Zone.
Speaking at the presentation, Chairman of the UI Ad Hoc Committee on Support for Oriire Rescued Abductees, Prof. Ezekiel Ayoola, said the university community was moved by a strong sense of responsibility to support the victims as they recover from the traumatic experience.
The gesture is expected to complement ongoing efforts to assist those affected and aid their rehabilitation following the tragic incident.
