Exclusive: Wemimo Mathew Set To Join Bayelsa Queens

Coach Wemimo Mathew is officially set to join Bayelsa Queens on an initial two years deal exclusively gathered by ECHONEWS.
Following the resignation of Whyte Ogbonda, the Prosperity Girls clinched the signature of Wemimo to replace Whyte Ogbonda who led Bayelsa Queens to the NWFL Premiership title in 2025 at the Remo Stars Stadium, Ikenne.
The former Remo Stars Ladies coach has committed herself to join the Prosperity Girls after three years with the Sky Blue Ladies.
According to a reliable source who pleaded anonymity said Wemimo was tasked to takeover the club after Nigeria U17 coach, Hakeem Busari declined the offer to concentrate with the Flamingos.
Wemimo who has previously coached Sunshine Queens, Edo Queens in the past have not won the NWFL Premiership or Federation Cup.
Former Bayelsa Queens coach, Whyte won the League title in his first season at the club but failed to replicate the success the following season as his two years contract with the club ended.
Bayelsa Queens have won the NWFL Premiership six times and the Federation Cup twice in 2007 and 2021.
