The National Union of Teachers (NUT), Oshodi-Isolo branch has produced its first female chairman, Mrs Abosede Adegbesan.

Adegbesan emerged the winner, beating the two male contestants.

It was gathered that elders of the union brokered the consensus to pave the way for Adegbesan being the only female contestant among the aspirants.

“I was given the opportunity since no female has ever taken the bold step to show interest.”The other two male aspirants stepped down to become the deputy and 2nd vice before the day of the election, so, I became the NUT chairperson through consensus,” she said.

Enumerating her plans for the union, Adegbesan said there would be laudable achievements during her tenure, pledging to make greater efforts to develop the union as the first female chairman in her branch.

She said she would make sure the union gets the staff bus promised by the chairman of Oshodi-Isolo LG during the last Teacher’s Day celebration.

Pleading for their support, she promised to carry all teachers along and avail them opportunities to grow while working.
