The Chairman, Ejigbo Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Monsuru Bello (Obe) has been receiving accolades from the residents since the LCDA renovated Imakiyo Police Post, Ejigbo recently.
The police post under the Ejigbo Police division has been in a dilapidated state in the past and the community had lost any hope of its repairs due to the state of the structures among other things.
The Imakiyo police post was built in the heart of Ejigbo in the mid-nineties as a result of high rate of criminal activities in the Dauda IIo/Lanfenwa area when the residents of the community requested for a police post.
In response to their request, the government under the then Lagos State Military Administrator, Col. Muhammed Buba Marwa, built and commissioned the Imakiyo police post on May 24,1999.
However, it was discovered that mismanagement of the police post by several officers who had manned the post led to its dilapidated status which as a result, has increased the rate of crimes in the community again as the police post then became empty and lacked man power.
However, when he took up the management of the post in July, 2019, the new officers in charge, ACP Irabor Ighodalo, with the approval of the Ejigbo Divisional Police Officer (DPO), CSP Olabisi Okuwobi, sought the support of the Local Council Chairman on the renovation of the post.
In an attempt to resurrect the activities of the police post, the council chairman, Hon. Monsuru Bello Obe, last week, painted the six-office police building and put it in order for smooth operations.
It was gathered that the fence of the police post that has been broken since 2003 was also rebuilt by Dr. Bankole Adebambo, the CEO of Medibam Medical Centre, Ejigbo.
The Doctor said he took up the responsibility of mending the fence knowing the importance of the police in the community in saving lives.
Meanwhile, the DPO appreciated the council chairman for his intervention on the renovation of the police post, promising to keep working harder to curb criminal activities in the community to ensure peaceful environment in Ejigbo.
The CSP in charge of the police post, Irabor, also appreciated the DPO for the good work she has been doing in the community, the council chairman for the good heart of service to the community and Dr. Adebambo for his support.
He as well promised the community to work harder to curb crimes and to enforce law firmly and fairly for Justice to prevail as the Imakiyo police post is built beside government properties, Ejigbo Magistrate Court, Customary Court, January 27th Health Care Centre, and Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu Primary School, Ejigbo.
