Residents of Amuwo-Odofin Local Government have expressed their thoughts over the commencement of the rehabilitation of roads in the council area.

According to them, the reconstruction which began after the council chairman’s 365 Days in office showcases his resilient attitude toward community development.

Speaking to ECHONEWS, a resident, Adepeju Akiolu, informed that the reconstruction was carried out by the Public Works Department of the council at 1st Avenue and 52 Road respectively.

Meanwhile, the council stated that the reconstruction would be extended to 21 Road and 7th Avenue roads over time.

Akiolu said the new development raised the hope of good road ideas in residents as commuters and road users have always wished that roads in the council are fully motorable.

The council management has appealed to residents to cooperatively ply alternate routes for quick service delivery in consolidating the road state.

In a related development, Akiolu revealed that a similar project is ongoing at Oriade LCDA as Buba Marwa road is currently under reconstruction.

She said the amazing aspect of the reconstruction to commuters is the fact that the LCDA has been tagged as an area with the most unmotorable roads which has led to the lamentation of residents for many years and counting.

ECHONEWS gathered that the road which is in the Ijegun-Egba axis is known to play host to tank farms and industries and has a high volume of tankers and articulated vehicles.

The reconstruction is said to be at 31 per cent completion with a fully concrete road.
