Rains Worsen Aboru Roads, Residents Lament

A concerned resident of Agbado/Oke Odo Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Olu Olowo, has appealed to the Chairman, Hon. Abiodun Jimoh Isola, popularly known as Ejigbadero, to urgently address the deplorable state of roads in Aboru Community, while commending him for his developmental strides across the council area.
The appeal came to the limelight after the chairman shared updates from an Executive Council Meeting, where members of the council deliberated on key policy matters, developmental priorities and strategic administrative decisions aimed at improving governance and enhancing service delivery across Agbado/Oke Odo LCDA.
Responding to the update on Facebook, Olowo acknowledged the chairman’s efforts but urged him not to overlook the road challenges facing residents of Aboru.
According to him, many roads within the community have remained untarred and abandoned for years despite its growing population, making movement increasingly difficult, especially during the rainy season.
He noted that the persistent rainfall has left several roads muddy and almost impassable, with vehicles frequently getting stuck and residents struggling to access their homes and businesses.
“Well done Mr Chairman. Please, we would like you to please help us look into the bad roads in the Aboru community. Most of the roads are not tarred and motorable especially during this rainy season with vehicles going deep into the muds. These roads have been abandoned over a long period of time with no governmental attention or intervention despite the dense population in the community.
“Thank you for taking out time to consider this plea.”
Olowo’s comment was one of several reactions to the chairman’s post, with other residents commending ongoing projects and expressing optimism about the council’s development efforts.
Earlier, the Chairman had conveyed the Executive Council Meeting, during which members discussed policies and strategic initiatives aimed at improving governance and strengthening service delivery across the LCDA.
The council meeting also comes as the administration continues to pursue infrastructure and institutional development projects, including the recent groundbreaking for a new Council Secretariat, which the chairman said is expected to improve administrative efficiency and enhance the delivery of public services to residents.
While applauding these initiatives, residents like Olowo hope that attention will also be given to basic infrastructure within communities, particularly road networks in Aboru, where the rainy season has continued to expose the poor condition of several streets and hinder the movement of motorists and pedestrians.
