A cop, CPL Adegoroye Oluwarotimi, has been severely assaulted by two commuters at Shasha after he aided the rescue of Balogun Sunday who was brutally attacked by the suspects.

The suspects, Friday Awara (36), and Arinze Egbe and others at large were said to have brutalized Balogun, a commercial bus driver. The incident caught the attention of Oluwarotimi who was on official duty at Isiwo Police point, Shasha.

The suspects and others at large believed the cop wanted to use the opportunity to arrest and extort money from them and with such thought in mind, they descended on him as he came over to the scene.

However, having managed an escape, Oluwarotimi went to the police station and reported what happened to him. It was gathered that other officers at the station mobilised, arrested the two suspects and brought them to the police station.
