Police arrest embroidery designer for stealing

An Embroidery Designer, Nurudeen Sulaiman, has appeared before the Ogba Magistrates Court for allegedly conspiring with others to steal from a construction site.

The 24-year old suspect was tried on two count charges of conspiracy and robbery which he pleaded not guilty of .

At the court proceedings, the Police prosecutor, Inspector Christopher John, said that the accused conspired with others still at large to rob a secondary school under construction in June 2018 along Egbe Road, Ejigbo, stating that the gang made away with electrical cable valued at N1.5 million, an allegation buttressed by the site Project Manager, Oludare Onayinka, who said that Sulaiman and his accomplices accessed the site through an adjoining building.

The prosecutor told the court that the case was reported at the Ejigbo Police Station.

The charge read, “That you, Nurudeen Sulaiman, and others at large, on June 22, 2018, at 10am, at Bacon College Construction site on 104 Egbe Road, Ejigbo, Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did conspire among yourselves to commit felony wit: robbery, thereby committing an offence punishable under Section 297 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

“That you, Nurudeen Sulaiman, and others at large, on the same date, time and date, in the aforementioned magisterial district, did steal original Coleman electrical cable valued at N1.5m, property of one Oludare Onayinka, thereby committing an offence punishable under Section 294(1) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.”

The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. P. E. Nwaka, ordered that Sulaiman should be remanded in prison while adjourning the case till August 28, 2018.
