Oshodi PHC receives new laboratory equipment, pleas for lab demarcation

The Primary Health Centre (PHC) located at Ogunlana Street, Oshodi established to take care of minor health matters within the community, has appreciated the government fr the provision of adequate laboratory equipment, while asking for help in the partitioning of the laboratory.

Speaking with Echonews on health matters, the Medical Laboratory Technician, Mrs. Ajenifuja disclosed that they have enough laboratory equipment to carry out tests and screenings of patients.

She also pleaded for the assistance of the government in the aspect of dividing the laboratory into sections such as the reception, test screening and diagnosing section to give room for privacy.

She stated, “Of a truth, we deal with minor health issues but not yet great ones because any mistake in test result could pose a life threatening danger to such a patient.”

She revealed a high flow of different tests ran by patients with malaria on alarming rate.

To this note, she warned that people should not cease to embark on tests such as pack cell volume (PCV), Urine analysis, hepatitis, malaria and HIV as they open the body to wider diseases, adding that more qualified medical lab experts are needed to aid the smooth running of the lab.

She also made it clear that issues beyond their capacity are been referred to general hospital for proper handling.
