With the construction of new modern railway lines, there will be a new station to be located at a place between Mushin and Oshodi in order to avoid close range train stoppage.

As revealed by the Chinese Civil Engineering Construction Company (CCECC) handling the project, building separate stations at Mushin and Oshodi would create unnecessary close range stoppage which may not be okay for the new railway lines under construction.

Speaking with ECHONEWS, the supervisor in charge, Hassan Abdullah said there could not be a station at Mushin and another one at Oshodi, adding that the reason for scraping the Oshodi terminal initially was to avoid such close range terminals as he said that a new station would be created between the two areas.

He noted that the company has embarked on shifting the old railway to accommodate two new standard railway lines.

“In reality, there would be three railway lines, the old one and the new two standard railway lines in progress. Their routes would be from Lagos to Ibadan and to Kano while stations in Ebute- Meta, Ibadan will still be retained.

“There will be just only one station in-between Oshodi and Mushin to avoid close range train stoppage.

From the level of the ongoing project, the progress is still at the first phase of clearing and leveling of the land terrain before mapping out the channel of railways.”

He informed that the reconstruction exercise is to introduce modern railway stations such as the one from Kaduna to Abuja in Lagos.
