Ogunlewe Royal Family lifts 42 Students with Bursary Support
For dozens of young students in Igbogbo, what could have been just another family gathering turned into a moment of reassurance, pride and renewed hope for their future.
At the annual meeting of the Fadugba Ogunlewe Royal Family, 42 students studying in higher institutions received financial support — a gesture that, beyond the money, reminded them that they are seen, valued and backed by their roots.
The gathering brought together respected figures within the family, including Adeseye Ogunlewe, alongside other chieftains, all united by a shared purpose — to invest in the next generation.
Speaking at the event, Ogunlewe explained that the initiative was born out of a simple but powerful realization: many young members of the family are striving through university with little support, and the family must step in to bridge that gap.
He stressed that when families stand by their children, those children grow with a deeper sense of identity and responsibility, often returning that support in the future.
For the students, the impact was immediate and deeply personal.
Boluwatife Ogunlewe, a student of the University of Lagos, described the support as more than financial assistance, saying it gives her the confidence to keep pushing despite challenges.
Another beneficiary, Mariam Kofoworola, who studies at Olabisi Onabanjo University, said the gesture would allow her focus more on her academics, knowing that her family believes in her journey.
Beyond the bursary, the gathering also served as a reunion of sorts — a space where family members reconnected, shared ideas and began conversations about building a stronger, more structured future together.
Discussions at the meeting included plans to rebuild the family house in Igbogbo and establish a cooperative society, steps aimed at strengthening unity and long-term support systems within the family.
For many in attendance, the day was a reminder that legacy is not only preserved through history, but through deliberate actions — especially those that empower the younger generation.
In a time when many students struggle silently, the Ogunlewe family’s gesture stood out as a simple but powerful message: no one should walk the journey alone.
