The status of two hundred and ten (210) residents of Orile Agege Local Council Development Area changed today, Thursday September 14, 2023, as the Council boss, Hon Johnson Sunday Babatunde empowered them with a total sum of Twenty one million naira .

The Mega Financial Empowerment Programme is not the first of its kind, but the caring and kind hearted man of the people has decided to top the notch . In his address, the Council Mayor reiterated that governance is basically about impacting and touching lives by giving the people who has called you to serve hope for a better and brighter future.

He added that these principles have been the guiding light of his team since assuming office. He also explained that the untold hardship of fuel subsidy removal and its immediate consequences necessitated the increase in the number of residents empowered today. He said that finding viable solutions to this problem is a priority for his administration, as it directly affects the cost of living and the livelihoods of his constituents. Part of the empowerment initiative involves support to build and scale up small-scale businesses, with a keen focus on entrepreneurship as a means to ameliorating poverty within the community.

The Chairman clarified that there was transparency in the selection of the beneficiaries with 15 slots given to People with disability, demonstrating his inclusive approach to empowerment.

Additionally, the Chairman hinted at a visionary plan—a 100-hectare Orile-Agege farming center. This ambitious initiative aims to boost agricultural activities within the LCDA, promoting food security, economic growth and employment opportunities for residents. Present at the occasion were the Executive Committee Members, Legislators, traditional rulers and Community Development Association members, amongst others. #JSBCARES #IREMIDE #GREATER LAGOS RISING
