Man on trial for allegedly stealing lace wears worth N4.5m

The Ikeja High Court has arraigned a man, Kunle Ahmed, 47, for allegedly stealing 200 bundles of lace worth N4.595.

The accused, reported to be a supervisor in a fabrics shop, commited the offence sometime in September and October, 2023 at Oshodi, Lagos, according to the Prosecutor, ASP Raji Akeem.

According to reports, Ahmed, who resides at 15, Demurin Street, Ketu, met his waterloo when the shop owner, one Mulikat Ola took audit of sakes abd discovered that the bundles of the lace wears where missing and unaccounted for. Ola reported the incident to the police which led to the arrest of the suspect.

The prosecutor told the court that the offence contravene Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Magistrate, Bola Osunsanmi, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500,000, with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case till January 31.
