A 49-year-old man, Wale Gbadebo, has been sentenced to one-year imprisonment by Isolo Magistrate Court for stabbing his friend, Temilade Lawal, who was accused of stealing his stock.

The defendant was sentenced by Magistrate Olubunmi Akokhia on a one-count charge of stabbing his friend, an offence contrary to and punishable under section 245 of Criminal Law of Lagos State.

Gbadebo, who does not have a permanent residence and deals in the sales of Indian hemp, said he has, on two different occasions, caught his friend, Lawal, stealing his Indian hemp, the allegation Lawal denied.

The court heard that both fought over the matter several times.

According to the prosecutor, Inspector Oje Uagbale, on Tuesday, March 23, 2021, the defendant suspected that Lawal stole marijuana worth N2, 000 from him. He waited for Lawal till dusk and stabbed him to punish him and allegedly stop him from stealing his goods.
