During the tour of the local government area, the commissioner monitored the desilting and evacuation of silt from drains within the communities.

“Water and Asphalt are enemies. Each time the drainage gets filled with refuse, flood extends to the main road, thereby washing off the Asphalt and weakening the road. Since good roads ar essential amenity which we all can’t do without, it has become important for you and I to play our part. I therefore urge the tenements, marketers and residents generally, to clear their surrounding and desilt the drainage close to them as at when due. When the refuse is properly packed, you should then call on the Local Council to cart it away”.

The commissioner further called on the Environmental Services Officers to be up and doing, and serve Abatement Notice to whoever refuses to tidy up their environment.

Arobieke also revealed that the Executive Governor of Lagos State, H.E. Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, is passionate about good roads and clean environment, hence, he is clearing primary and secondary drains around the State.

She urged the residents to support the Government of the day by playing their part, saying refuse should be properly sorted from the source.
