Lagos travellers are set to gain another international flight option as Enugu Air prepares to launch four weekly flights between Lagos and London Gatwick from December 10, 2026, offering passengers greater travel flexibility and strengthening Nigeria’s international air connectivity.

The service will be operated using an Airbus A330-200 under an aircraft, crew, maintenance and insurance (ACMI) arrangement with Portugal’s EuroAtlantic Airways, delivered through a strategic partnership with Omni-Blu Aviation. The airline said the new route is designed to give passengers greater flexibility when travelling between Nigeria and the United Kingdom.

In a statement released over the weekend, Enugu Air noted that the flights would create an international connection for passengers departing from Lagos, Enugu and other parts of the country. Passengers originating from Enugu will be able to begin their journey at Akanu Ibiam International Airport before connecting onward.

Captain Tolu Ita, the airline’s chief executive officer, described the London service as an important step in its international expansion. “Of particular importance is ensuring that passengers from Enugu can begin their international journey to London from their home airport,” he said. The development, he added, aligns with the vision of Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah to strengthen the state’s global connectivity and expand access to international opportunities.

Ugonna Agubokwu, the airline’s chief operating officer, emphasised the practical benefit of the frequency. “With four flights weekly, we are providing passengers with greater flexibility and more convenient options when planning their journeys to and from London Gatwick.”

The announcement follows Enugu Air’s first international operation, a flight to Douala, Cameroon, in late September. The Lagos-Gatwick route marks a significant leap for the relatively young carrier, which received its Air Operator Certificate earlier this year and has focused primarily on domestic services.

For Lagos travellers, the addition brings more choice on a busy corridor already served by other Nigerian and foreign airlines. Industry observers note that increased competition can pressure fares and improve scheduling options, though actual ticket prices and load factors will only become clear once operations begin.

Omni-Blu Aviation’s chairman and chief executive, Akinola Olateru, framed the partnership as part of broader efforts to expand Nigeria’s international air links and create more travel opportunities between the two countries.

As the December start date approaches, attention will turn to how smoothly the wet-leased operation settles in and whether the four weekly frequencies prove sustainable. For now, the announcement offers travellers a concrete new schedule and a fresh name on the Lagos-London route.
