The Lagos State All Progressives Congress (APC) PBAT-KOH Campaign Council is strengthening its digital mobilisation strategy ahead of the governorship election, unveiling more than 300 Digital Ambassadors to amplify campaign messages, promote credible information and connect with voters across online platforms.

The group, drawn largely from chief press secretaries to local government chairmen and social media practitioners, has been tasked with amplifying the campaign’s messages, promoting accurate information and expanding voter engagement across digital platforms. The initiative is a product of the campaign’s New Media Directorate.

Princess Damilola Sonayon-James, the APC deputy governorship candidate, performed the inauguration on behalf of the governorship candidate, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat. She told the ambassadors that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was prepared to consolidate the work already begun, while Hamzat would deliver on the Lagos Promise Agenda.

“Information released by the group would shape the future of Lagos and the country at large,” she said, urging members to conduct proper scrutiny before making such information public.

Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, Director-General of the PBAT-KOH Campaign Council, charged the ambassadors to take charge of the social media space and to think creatively. He noted that a huge percentage of Nigerians now have access to social and new media, which made the ambassadors crucial partners in delivering the party’s 2027 mandates.

“Always think outside the box when coming up with information that resonates with the people,” Obanikoro said.

Hon. Rasaq Ajala, the Deputy Director-General, emphasised the need for fact-based engagement. He urged the ambassadors to highlight the infrastructure revolution of the Tinubu administration and its socio-economic impact, citing projects such as the Badagry-Sokoto highway and programmes including NELFUND.

Ajala described Dr. Hamzat as the most prepared candidate for the governorship race and called on the group to occupy the cyber space as the campaign moves into a critical stage, ensuring victory for both President Tinubu and Hamzat.

Beyond promoting the candidates’ records, the ambassadors have also been mandated to serve as early-warning channels. They are expected to flag challenges and issues affecting residents that require government attention, enabling quicker responses and escalation where necessary.

The unveiling reflects a growing recognition within the campaign that a large share of Nigerians now receive and debate political information online. By formalising a coordinated network of digital voices, the PBAT-KOH team aims to maintain message discipline, counter misinformation and reach voters who primarily engage through social media and new media platforms.

As the political season intensifies, the effectiveness of the ambassadors will depend on the quality and consistency of the content they produce. For now, the campaign has signalled its intention to treat the digital space as a central battleground rather than an afterthought.
