The Lagos State Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice, Lawal Pedro, SAN, has said that a Criminal Information System is put in place in the state to ensure data of suspects are acquired to ensure prosecution.

Pedro said that the Information System now has a tracking device to track suspects and bring them to court to face charges against them.

The Commisioner of Justice said this on Monday while answering questions about inmates who are abandoned in prison custody for years without trial.

“From the point a suspect has contact with the court, that person is strapped,” revealed Pedro.

“He can be monitored and checked wherever he is, when his case is coming up and till the determination of the case.

“We are going to update and escalate, hopefully, if state policing is passed, then we can integrate easily. For now, between the court from magistrate to the high court, to the correctional centre, from from date of arraignment the biometrics, fingerprints, photographs and all features are captured in our database, so that we can account for everyone that has entered.

“For now, we can track you even if you don’t answer, we will bring you out and you will be able to answer the charges against you.”
