Babcock University has announced plans to take legal action against Nigerian streamer and content creator Carter Efe over an alleged forged degree certificate purportedly issued by the institution.

The controversy followed an interview with Egungun of Lagos, during which Carter Efe claimed he graduated from the university with top honours. He later shared what he described as his Biochemistry degree certificate on his X account, claiming he earned a “First Class Upper.”

In a public statement released on Sunday, the university dismissed the claim as false and described the certificate circulating online as fraudulent.

Babcock University clarified that it does not award any undergraduate classification known as “First Class Upper” and does not issue “Honorary Certificates” based on academic performance.

The institution urged members of the public to disregard the document and verify academic credentials directly through its Office of the Registrar.

“The University does not issue ‘Honorary Certificates’ for undergraduate performance and has no classification known as ‘First Class Upper.’ Any document claiming otherwise is fraudulent and should be disregarded,” the statement read.

The university added that it would pursue appropriate legal action against those responsible for producing and circulating the alleged forged documents.
