Isolo council leader fetes students with cash prizes, notebooks

The council leader, Isolo Local Council Development Area, Hon. Remy Shittu Remy, has honoured students of from secondary and primary schools drawn across Oshodi-Isolo Local Government Area who participated in the last Children’s Day celebration organized by his foundation, a non-governmental organization, The Remy Shittu Foundation (TRSF)  in conjunction with National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS), Oshodi-Isolo chapter.

During the celebration, students showcased various talents in match past, drama, cultural dance, dance competition and Spelling Bee.

The emerged three best students in Spelling Bee were given cash prizes as others were given certificates of participation, best students in other competitions were given trophies while each of the 120 participating schools was give packs of exercise books.

Remy told Echonews that the prizes and the gifts for the students were funded with his own salary, saying he didn’t get the fund from any other source.

He said he did that as a way of giving back to his constituency, adding that his NGO is also established to empower people in his locality.

Some of the students who talked to our correspondent expressed their joy for participating in the celebration as they craved for more of it.

They said that the celebration had created any way for them to enjoy, relax, mix with students from other schools and particularly afforded them the opportunity to display their inner talents.

They believed that they could get to the top of their careers through such programme.

They however appreciated the council leader for his philanthropic gesture towards development of education in Oshodi-Isolo.
