…hasten govt on quick completion

The butchers in Isolo area of Lagos state have promised to render support in the building of Ejigbo abattoir if required for quick completion of the slaughterhouse as they beckoned on the Chairman, Ejigbo Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Monsurudeen Bello, to hasten action on the project in order to ease their plight.
Speaking on their behalf, the Chairman, Butchers Association of Nigeria, Isolo branch, Alhaji Fatai Popoola, said there is need for the local council to prioritize the abattoir project which is the only the butchers in Isolo and Ejigbo and their environs depends on.
According to him, the butchers encounter challenges on daily basis especially in transporting their meats from faraway abattoir in Mushin where they currently use.
He stated that high cost of transportation has been affecting the selling price of meat in the market.

He also declared that the prices of cows have gone high and that this has been affecting their sales.
Popoola believed that the completion of Ejigbo abattoir would go a long way to help the meat market within Isolo/Ejigbo communities.
He therefore beckoned on the government to involve the butchers in the construction of the abattoir if the be for their assistance.
Meanwhile, the butchers’ boss commended the Chairman of Isolo LCDA for making the business environment conducive for them.
He affirmed that the local council has not been overcharging them nor has it allowed any other body to extort them in the marketplace.
