Law maker representing Oshodi-Isolo Constituency 2 in the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Jude Idimogu has disclosed his interest to run for second term in the elections next year, appealing to to the constituents to give him their mandate.
Idimogu revealed this during a forum with the N’digbo group and others who graced the event tagged “Abundance One More Time” which was held yesterday at the Triple-T in Ejigbo.
He said that the motive behind the gathering was to inform the people in Oshodi-Isolo of his intention to run for a second term, and to appreciate their support for him in his political aspirations.
“I have told my people especially my Igbo brothers and sisters who live in my constituency that the journey has just commenced. At least I want to go one more time, and that is the reason why I gathered them today, and with my Yoruba brothers and sisters too that I want to serve them better.
“And I want to appreciate them for the one they have done for me and that I am interested and I want to run again.”
Idimogu also lauded the his endorsement by the APC national leader, Bola Tinubu and the Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode who according to him gave him the courage to declare his second term ambition.
He mentioned the pedestrian bridge construction at Toyota bus stop, Oshodi which, was facilitated by him and became a reality the governor.
“I want to use this medium to thank the Asiwaju of Yoruba land, the Jagaban of Nigeria, he is a great leader, he has spoken to me. May God bless him. Ambode has been there.
“They have been supporting me and not just supporting me, but supporting the cause of non-indigenes, not just Igbo in my constituency and Lagos in general. I must tell you, I am a proud APC member, there is no doubt about that, but you see charity, they say, begins from home. I need to identify with my people which I have been doing right from day one,” Idimogu said.
Still on his achievements, he explained that all the inner roads that link the Airport Road from his constituency have been mapped out for rehabilitation, and that there were buses called Abundance provided which was an empowerment programme for his community.
“Apart from that, you can always reach me, I am accessible. Since I won the election, I have always lived here. When they have issues, problems, I try my best to solve them. I pay for JAMB Forms, I pay school fees for the less privileged, house rent, I pay for GCE Forms, I have been giving out things; then I also visit patients in the General Hospital. The idea is that I am out to serve humanity, serve my people.”
He appealed to members of his constituency to give him their support, adding that he has also gone round to sensitise the constituents on the need to register with the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) in order to be eligible to vote.
In response to his request for support, the Chairman of the N’digbo forum, Chief Uche Nwosu, appalled to the N’digbo group and other allottees of Oshodi-Isolo should come out in multitude to support him for second tenure. He declared that they were the one who called Idimogu to join APC, and that they should not abandon him but to support.
The Eze N’digbo of Lagos, Dr. Christian Nwachukwu, reiterated Nwosu’s assertion for full support towards Idimogu’s second term bid.
He said, “We are here to support our illustrious son, whom God made to be in the House of Assembly Lagos State.
“Today is a special day, and we have resolved that all N’digbo in this constituency in unison will give him a second term. That is what we have come to discuss. The communities, men and women, friends of Ndigbo should rally round and support Hon. Jude Idimogu.”
Nwachukwu disclosed that he would put up with actions to ensure that Idimogu is returned for the second term including grassroots, state mobilisation and all that it would take to ensure that the party leaders give him the nod to go for a second term.
“This is what we should stand for, we request, plead and appeal that he is returned in 2019; that the Igbos should be given one more term; that is why we are here.
“We are the foot soldiers of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Jagaban of Lagos and he said anywhere the Igbos are in majority they should be allowed to field their candidate. So Jude is our candidate, he is the best candidate and we have to support him.”
