Flavour Opens Up on Humiliating Experience With P-Square Before Fame

Nigerian singer, Chinedu Okoli, popularly known as Flavour, has opened up about a painful experience he faced in the early days of his music career involving the now-defunct music duo, P-Square.

Speaking during a recent podcast interview, the award-winning singer recalled that he was once forced to stop performing at a club after P-Square arrived at the venue.

According to Flavour, the club manager immediately asked him to leave the stage so the famous duo could perform.

“I was performing one time when P-Square came in, and the manager of the place told me to leave the stage immediately,” he said.

Flavour explained that he quietly handed over the stage and watched from the audience as the atmosphere changed the moment Paul Okoye began performing the group’s hit song, Temptation.

“I switched off my microphone and sat somewhere. The ladies were screaming and cheering loudly as soon as Paul took the mic. I kept asking myself if we weren’t doing the same kind of music because I had performed there many times and never received that kind of reaction,” he recalled.

Rather than allowing the incident to discourage him, Flavour said it became a turning point in his career.

He explained that the experience motivated him to work harder, remain focused and stay consistent until he eventually achieved success in the music industry.

“I didn’t let it discourage me. I used it as motivation to work harder, and today we can all see the result,” he said.
