EYP holds marathon race in October

The Estate Youth Parliament (EYP) has announced its maiden edition of EYP Marathon Race scheduled to hold on October 1st at Jakande estate Oke-Afa, Ejigbo to commemorate Nigerian independence Day.

 

Speaking with ECHONEWS, the EYP chairman, Yusuf Adeyemi said 40 athletes are targeted to participate in the race, saying the organiser has already provided the kits for the participants.

According to him, the race is organised to awaken sportsmanship in more people in the estate hence, the forms were obtained free of charge.

 

Adeyemi said at the end of the race sponsored by Red Grape Foundation in conjunction with the former House of Representatives aspirant under the All Progressive Congress (APC), Habeeb Anibaba, the sum of N10,000 would be awarded to the each of the winners in both male and female categories.

He reiterated the readiness of the organiser, saying it has put in place, perfect logistics for the take off of the competition.

“We are very ready because we have made provision for medical services for the participants in the race. Also, we are providing customized bibs to be worn by all athletes. Security and traffic control officers will be on standby to ensure a smooth race by the grace of God.”

 

Also speaking about the race, one of the sponsors, Anibaba, said he is sponsoring the marathon to trigger sporting interest and other developmental activities in the community.

As one of the residents of the estate, Anibaba said it became imperative for him to support good things happening in his community
