Estate Agent Arraigned Over N725,000 Fraud

An estate agent identified as Seun Oladipupo has been arrainged at the Ikeja Magistrates” Court for allegely defrauding three house seekers the sum of N725,000.

The defendant, 32, who resides at N0. 12, Olokode street in Alakuko Lagos is facing a two-count charge of fraud and stealing.

He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Prosecutor, Inspector Samuel Mishozunnu maintained that the defendant, at his residence, committed the offences on December 29, 2023.

Mishozunnu said that Oladipupo collected the sum from from the house seekers identified as Ajoke Yahaya, Sola Kosoko and Kareem Ismail under the guise of procuring an apartment for them but failed to do so.

The prosecutor informed that all efforts made by the complainants to get back their money proved abortive. He added that the offences contravened Sections 287 and 314 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

Reports garnered hold that Section 287 stipulates a years jail term for stealing, while Section 314 on two years imprisonment for conspiracy to steal.

The Magistrate, Folashade Hughes, granted the defendant bail for ₦500,000 with two sureties in like sum.

She adjourned the case till April 26.
