Ejigbo All Stars FA honours Akinlusi with novelty match, raises funds for family

A modest donation of N150,000 and a novelty match were part of the package put together  by the  All Stars Football association in conjunction with COC, Ejigbo LCDA to honour late Taiwo Akinlusi recently.

Until his sudden death by eletrocution, Akinlusi   was an active member of the Ejigbo All Stars FC.

The match, which ended in a 2-1 win, was played between All Stars Football association and anothe team to honour the late footballer.

A minute silence was observed before the match commenced, while the executive Chairman of Ejigbo LCDA, Hon. Monsuru Bello (Obe), who was the special guest of honour was given the privilege of opening the match with the kick off of the ball at the centre of the field.

Obe, who noted how important the sport community is to Ejigbo LCDA, charged every stakeholder to strive to be good ambassador of the community.

“The letter of invitation to this novelty match came to me very late but because of how important the sport community is to Ejigbo LCDA I decided to honour it and I want everyone to know that we will all die one day because death is inevitable. So, whenever it comes, we should take it in good faith. We should also make sure we become good ambassadors of  our community and I promise to support the sport community in Ejigbo,” Obe said.

The council chairman also made a pledge of N200,000 to the family of the deceased.

The Patron of the Ejigbo All Stars association, Prince Adefolahan Ibiyemi, together with the Chairman of the football association, Chief Ike Agina, presented a cheque of N150,000 on behalf of the association to the wife of the late footballer as they promised to always support the bereaved family.

They gave tribute to the late footballer for living an exemplary life and also for being an active member of the association when alive.
