Ajax legend, Klaas-Jan Huntelaar has praised Nigerian forward Tolu Arokodare for his impressive start to life at the Amsterdam club, describing him as a dangerous focal point whenever he is on the pitch.

Arokodare joined Ajax on a season-long loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers in July and has quickly justify the club’s decision to bring him to the Eredivisie after a difficult spell in England.

Huntelaar, speaking on the Voetbal International Pak Schaal Podcast, singled out the 25-year-old’s goalscoring contribution and ability to provide Ajax with a strong attacking presence.

“I think Tolu is doing well. He has scored his goals and is dangerous as a focal point when he is on the pitch,” Huntelaar said.

The former Real Madrid and Ajax striker’s assessment comes as Arokodare continues to make an impact in his first season with the Dutch giants.

The Nigerian has scored six goals and provided two assists in nine appearances across all competitions for Ajax this season. The six goals have come in both the Eredivisie and UEFA Conference League.

In the Eredivisie, Arokodare has scored three goals and registered one assist, while he has also found the net three times and supplied one assist in the Conference League.

The striker’s resurgence represents a sharp turnaround from his 2025/26 campaign at Wolves, where he managed six goals in 38 appearances across all competitions.

Arokodare’s return to form has also strengthened his claims for a prominent role in Nigeria’s attack as his performances for Ajax earned him a recall to the Super Eagles September 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches against Madagascar and Guinea-Bissau.

While his international outings did not yield a goal, his club form has continued to make him one of Nigeria’s forwards attracting attention in Europe.

Arokodare’s combination of physical presence, aerial ability and goalscoring threat offers another dimension to Ajax attack this season.
