Economic meltdown : Ex Lagos Lawmaker commends Sanwo-Olu

An erstwhile legislative member at the Lagos House of Assembly, Dipo Olorunrinu, has commended the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, in mitigating efforts to curb the economic hardship faced by the state’s residents owing to the prices of comestibles gone on the spike.

Olorunninu, during a media parley, stated that the Governor, in this distress time has provided democratic improvisation, thereby, not letting the residents of the state down in managing the unfavorable condition.

The former Assembly member, who represented Amuwo-Odofin Constituecy 01 from 2015-2019 hinted on the governor’s announcement on the reduction of working days by public servants’ saying it is part of ways to cushion the high cost of transportation faced by the workers.

He also said that due to the rising cost of food, Sanwo-Olu has opened markets where Lagos residents could buy food items at discount rates.

The politician added that the 25 percent reduction on transport fares on BRT, Train and Ferry alongside discussions with various commercial transport unions to reduce their fares will reduce the hardship of high cost of transpiration in the metropolis.

Olorunninu, who also commended the Lagos State House of Assembly for their empathy for the people of the state at this hard time said, “with all these measures, we can boldly say that Sanwo-Olu has not let us down.

“We commend the governor for all his effort towards making ordinary residents and workers survive this current economic situation. The recent gesture of the governor will be felt by average residents of the state.

“Let us give kudos and applause to the governor and the Lagos State House of Assembly ably led by Hon. Mudashiru Obasa for some of these interventions,” Olorunrinu said.

He said that the current administration has shown that the welfare of the people is uppermost in its mind.

He continued, “This is actually what governance is all about. These interventions say a lot that the governor really wants people to survive.

“It is heartwarming to see the Lagos State House of Assembly calling on the governor to take steps on alleviating the suffering, and to see the governor take such steps immediately.

“We can see the heartfelt and concern of a compassionate leader in Sanwo-Olu. We have seen measures taken now to reduce the agonies of the people in transportation, food and others.”

He urged the people to continue to support the government’s effort in tackling suffering in the land.
