A 25-year old Taofeek Ojedeji has been charged before the Ejigbo Magistrate Court after being alleged to have stolen two fowls which belonged to his neighbour at Kuka Street in Egan, Igando.
It was gathered that Ojedeyi also stole two generator sets, a shirt and plastic bucket, also belonging to Adebayo Afolabi, another resident of the building.
Close residents stated that Ojedeji complained of financial constraints for Easter celebration and subsequently, in the early hours of March 30th, at around 2am, he woke up to steal the items.
However, as he was escaping, one of his neighbours saw him and raised alarm which woke up other neighbours.
He was apprehended and handed over to the police at Igando Division.
During interrogation, he confessed before the police that he stole the items which were recovered and stated as exhibits and kept at the police station.
Ojedeji was later charged before Ejigbo Magistrate court for stealing.
He pleaded guilty and asked the court for leniency.
The prosecutor, Mr. Simon, urged the court for short adjournment to enable him to present the facts before the court for sentence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Kayode Layeni, granted the prosecutor’s request and ordered the suspect to be remanded in prison custody.
The case was adjourned till April 25th, 2018, for facts and sentence.
