Tie and Die association organizes vocational training for Isolo residents

The Lagos State Tie and Dye Association in conjunction with Liberation Empowerment and Action Empowerment has kick-started an intensive three-week training and entrepreneurial programme for the residents of Isolo Local Council Development Area.

The entrepreneurial programme, which begun this week at Ishagatedo Townhall, would see participants being trained in the art of soap-making, insecticide, disinfectant, hat-making and bead-making.

Trainees

While declaring the entrepreneurial programme open, the Executive Chairman of Isolo Local Council Development Area, Hon. Shamsudeen Abiodun Olaleye, who was represented by his Chief of Staff (COS), Hon. Helen Ogunmakinwa, enjoined the participants to show seriousness and take full advantage of the training, noting that the vocation might turn out to be their economic mainstay.

Oloyede added that similar training and entrepreneurial skill were also being considered by his administration as the way out of the current economic downturn of the country.

According to the facilitators of the programme, trainee certificate would be issued to participants at the end of the training exercise.

Participants

To ensure participants have opportunity of starting up on their respective vocations, there were plans to give start-up loans of up to N100,000 to the trainees to start their businesses.

However, to qualify for the loan, potential beneficiaries were expected to provide the documents such as Trainee Certificate, LASRA Card, BVN Card, Voters Card/National I.D. Card.

Other top council officials who attended the launching of the programme included the Secretary to Local Government (SLG), Hon. Kolawole Olojede; Supervisor for Education, Hon. Buhari Bello and the Supervisor for Environment, Hon. Saheed Abiodun.
