Covid-19 frustrated AEI 2020 annual quiz competition – Organizer

One of the organisers of the annual Academic Excellence Initiative (AEI) quiz competition, Mr. Yusuf Abiola, has revealed that plans had  already been made to hold 8th edition of the competition and award ceremony but could not be executed due to outbreak of Covid-19.

Speaking with ECHONEWS, Abiola appealed to students and other key players in the educational sector who have been looking forward to this year’s edition to bear with the organisers and look forward to the event next year.

According to him, it is not expected that such ceremony would be held while the schools are still under lock and key and gathering of people of more than 20 is still not allowed.

He advised them to continue observing all precautions against contracting coronavirus and play their roles in the fight against the virus..

“Pending the time the pandemic is defeated, I will advise the students to continue studying at home via the online platforms and concentrate more on their textbooks and workbooks with assistance from their parents and guardians.”

The last edition of the annual event which is open to public secondary school under districts IV and VI was held at Unity High School, Oshodi.

The competition was won by Mafoluku Senior High School after beating Eric Moore Senior Grammar School in the 5th tie-breaking round, as reported by ECHONEWS.
