Clerics to Parents: Be cautious of girl child’s upbringing for safer society

A group of Islamic clerics has urged parents to emphasize the upbringing of a girl child to create a safer society.

The admonition was given during the 13th annual Ramadan Lecture and Child Dedication Service organised by AbdulWahid Islamic Foundation.

At the lecture, held on Saturday, March 25, 2023, at Tabjol Event Center in Agboyi-Ketu LCDA, the clerics harped on the importance of girl child’s upbringing especially during the formative stage of their lives to create a better and saner society.

Speaking on the theme of the lecture “The Girl Child”, the guest speaker, Sheik Abdul-Rafii Muh’d Awwal, highlighted the significance of caring for the girl child, which he said has special features divinely structured to bring about a sane world.

The Islamic scholar said that the success or otherwise of many men is tied to the support of their wives, charging the parents never to neglect the upbringing of their girl child as they make the world better.

Also speaking, the Missioner and Chief Imam of the Foundation, Ustaz Ridwanulahi Abdullahi, stated that the future of any society hinges on how well the children especially the girl child are groomed.

He emphasised the benefit of training the girl child which he said is an institution and the first learning point of every child.

The founder of the Foundation, Hon. Abdulwaheed Odunuga, said the essence of the programme is to advocate for proper training of girl children in every home to build a safer society.

He added that the training and proper upbringing of children especially the girl child are very crucial in building a society that would be conducive for everyone to live.
