The Societal Concerns group is launching a Walk Endurance Campaign today to protest against the killing of Nigerian police officers nationwide.

Ambassador Oluwayomi Oluwapelumi David, the Convener of the campaign, started the sensitization during a Press Conference in Agege, emphasizing the need to address the critical issues in Nigeria together.

 

The campaign aims to raise awareness and gather support to stop the unlawful killings of security personnel.

 

The Walk Exercise will commence at 8am under the Ikeja bridge, proceeding to the Office of the Lagos State Commissioner of Police. Dignitaries such as Mr. Mojeed Balogun, Mr. Emmanuel Bamgboye, and Nollywood actors have already shown their support for the cause.

She urged stakeholders, patriotic citizens, and concerned individuals to join the endurance walk on Wednesday.

 

Security operators comprise various agencies, and it is important to stand together to defend and uphold the values of peace, unity, and respect for human life.

The campaign’s theme “Protect our protectors, Preserving Our Unity” emphasizes the importance of safeguarding those who ensure the nation’s safety.

 

The convener emphasized that no one has the right to unlawfully take the life of another, especially those who serve the nation.

Education and nation-building efforts are necessary to reject violence and promote progress.

 

The campaign will be extended to other states in a fortnight for more awareness.

 

The Director General of Societal Concerns, Bishop Dr. Joseph Ighalo-Edoro, expressed that the idea presented is unique and much needed in Nigeria.

He emphasized the importance of showing support for our Soldiers and Police Men who have sacrificed their lives.

 

He also stressed the need for peaceful avenues to address grievances. Bishop Ighalo-Edoro urged the Federal government to embrace and back the Societal Concern initiative to help transform mindsets, prevent disasters, and promote development in Nigeria.

Though the project is self-funded, sponsorship is welcome for future assistance.
