Following the increase in the complaints of stealing of motor parts especially vehicle’s brain boxes by residents of Oshodi-Isolo local government area as reported by ECHONEWS last week, the council chairman, Hon. Bolaji Muse-Ariyoh, has disclosed that the menace has continued to thrive due to non- compliance with the bylaw on security promulgated by the local government last year by the community development associations.

According to Ariyoh, who expressed grievance over the incessant theft in the council area, the bylaw mandated the CDAs to employ security personnel, who must be screened by the committee of security experts set up by the CDC and the local government to man their communities.

Ariyoh, who spoke at a meeting with all CDA chairmen through the Secretary to the local government, Hon. Taoheed Abiola, expressed disappointment over the lackadaisical attitude of some CDAs on the security bylaw.

He charged the CDAs to comply with the law by setting up security guards in their various communities before the end of this month.

“It is appalling that up till now, some CDAs have not conformed with the local government security bylaw which empowers each CDA to employ security men to be screened by committee of security experts set up by the CDC and the local government.

“Please we need to act fast to put a stop to incessant stealing of brain boxes and batteries of cars which are made possible through lack of night guards in our community,” he charged.

The legal officer of the local government, Barr. Kareem therefore implored the CDAs to take full advantage of the security bylaw to complement the efforts of the local government authority in ensuring safety of life and property.

He assured the community representatives of government’s assistance to prosecute any defaulter or group of people who might refuse to conform with the directive of the CDA.

The CDA chairmen then promised to visit the three zones of Oshodi-Isolo LG (Oshodi, Mafoluku and Shogunle) this week to further enlighten the CDA members and encourage them to quickly do the needful as regards the security bylaw.
